You can find out more about the kinds of government policies at national and lower levels needed to support the development and facilitation of sanitation marketing and sanitation markets in the UNICEF-sponsored Guidance Note #1: Favorable Conditions for SanitationMarketing, and Guidance Note #6: Enabling Environment.
This first step is to see if favorable or unfavorable policies are in place for sanitation marketing, which as described in Guidance Note 1. It’s unlikely policies can be changed overnight and by one organization working alone. Working among like-minded stakeholders to make a case for sanitation marketing and new policies will take time, and often require demonstrating on the ground that current policies and competing program approaches are not working.
