Is there a sustainable business case for sanitation?

Monday, November 11, 2013

Post ThumbnailSmall scale entrepreneurs are springing up around the world with the aim of tackling the problems of open defecation and processing faecal waste and urine. There is energy and enthusiasm for this taking place globally that we have documented readily throughout this website.

However, will these small scale entrepreneurships be profitable or sustainable? Can they address the huge scale of the problem? And more specifically, will they address the issues in rural areas as well as urban areas?

These are the tough questions.

Peter McIntyre, freelance WASH writer, journalist, editor, consultant and trainer, gauges the sentiment from an International Water Week event.

Find out the opinions collected from the event here. If you have the time, check out the full videos of the event at the bottom of the page.
